Gears
Spur gears have a cylindrical body and straight teeth, and they transmit rotary motion between parallel shafts. Helical gears have a cylindrical body and slanted teeth that curve to the right or left of their axis, and they transmit rotary motion between parallel shafts. Gear racks are rods with teeth that mate with pinion gears to form a linear actuator which converts rotary motion into linear motion.
